REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA - President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono (SBY) nominates the current Minister of Finance Agus Martowardojo as the governor of Bank Indonesia (BI).
"He has broad experience on banking and has good relations with both local and international financial institutions as well as World Bank," Presidential Staff on Economy, Firmanzah, said on Saturday.
Firmanzah said Indonesia, as a member of G20, must prioritize relationship with global financial institutions due to global economic crisis. The minister is also believed to successfully maintain fiscal policies. Firmanzah explained that SBY made the nomination was made after consulting the Vice President Boediono and Coordinating Minister of Economy Hatta Rajasa.
