REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA - Director Aircraft Sales Asia of Hawker Pacific Private Jet, Paul Van Der Bloom, said his company eyed an opportunity to market private jet in Indonesia, a country which had 17,000 islands. Based on his data, Indonesia has 25 billionaires and 112,000 millionaires who collect 60 units of private jets and more to come.

For the last four years, the sales of private jets in Indonesia is five to six percent, contradicting with Australian and American markets. Australia has 18 billionaires who collect 604 units of private jets, while US, with 425 billionaires and 5.1 million millionaires, collects 19,000 units of private jets.

The Chairman of Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Suryo Bambang Sulisto, astonished with the figure. Even though it is a parameter of growing economy, he warned people that the purchase of imported luxury goods could inflict Indonesian trade balance. "We must at least increase the production of domestic luxury products," he said.
