Indonesia-Cuba to send their athletes to training camp

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA - Indonesia and Cuba plans to increase cooperation to boost performance their athletes by sending their athletes to a training camp. Cuba will also send its trainer to Indonesia.

Secretary of Minister of Youth and Sports, Yuli Mumpuni said Cuba had good quality in sports, especially in boxing, gymnastic, baseball, and volleyball. "We invite Cuban coaches to train our boxer to prepare SEA Games," he said on Sunday.

Indonesia also sent junior gymnastics athletes, volleyball and baseball players to be trained in Cuba for six months. Indonesia has a great potential in gymnasticbut we are still lacking of training facilities. While in Cuba, its government gives much attention and priority in gymnastic. Cuba currently tried to explore sports to spread their trainers all over the world to act as diplomatic ambassadors. 

Cooperation in sport is also expected to open more door of opportunities for bilateral trade between Indonesia and Cuba. Currently the trade between both countries is still low.
