REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, SEMARANG - Seven foreign students from various countries studying at Universitas Negeri Semarang (Unnes) held batik exhibition on Tuesday and Wednesday. The exhibition also marked the end of their study in Indonesia.
"Actually there are 15 foreign students who are studying at Unnes, but eight others have completed their study earlier. The rest of students stayed longer and learned batik for six months," acting Rector of Unnes, Agus Wahyudin said on Wednesday.
Those seven students are Lucia Martakova (Slovakia), Miryam Raags (Estonia), Tiina Jaksman (Estonia), Paulina Matuzweska (Poland), Angelique Rondags (Netherlands), Gabriella Farmankova (Czech) and Akido Ai (Japan).
Batik is Indonesian patterned traditional fabric. Batik of various patterns including floral, landscape, dan abstract were displayed during the exhibition. Those students also attended course at the Faculty of Languages and Arts at Unnes to learn Indonesian language, culture, and local customs.
