Survey: Stock market investment in Indonesia increases

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA - Manulife Investor Sentiment Index shows a tendency of investment in Indonesian stock market increases from time to time. Director of Business Development at PT Manulife Aset Manajemen Indonesia, Putut Endro Andanawarih said positive tendency demonstrated primarily in stocks investment. 

"Good market condition encourages investor to put their capital in high risk investments, particularly in stocks, and it increases from 38 percent to 40 percent this year," Andanawarih said on Saturday.

Investors began to look at the stock market as an alternative investment. Manulife survey in three cities in Indonesia mapped 540 public investors in Jakarta, Medan (North Sumatra) and Surabaya (East Java).

Positive trend among investors is coherent with improvement of Indonesian stock market. Composite Index of Indonesia Stock Exchange this weekend was closed at level of 4,724.41 or hiked 3.98 points than previous week.
