REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA - State owned bank, PT Bank Mandiri prepares necessary infrastructure to serve tax payment from small and medium enterprises (SMEs). Director of Technology and Operation in Bank Mandiri, Kresno Sediarsi said the service could start in the end of this year.
"Bank Mandiri has met with Directorate General of Taxes related to provision of payment services of SME through company. We only needed to look what kind of requirements for provision of such services," Sediarsi said on Thursday.
Further discussion is still needed to realize the plan. Yet, Sediarsi is optimistic that Bank Mandiri can provide services in its all branches and automated teller machines (ATM). After that, company can further develop such payment via internet and mobile banking.
Sediarsi added investment for provision of these services was around 10 thousand to 20 thousand USD at most. It was not big because company had already necessary infrastructure before.
Potential taxes that can be collected is quite large. From January to June 2013, payment of taxes through Bank Mandiri reached 113.3 trillion IDR or equal to 1.765 million transactions. The tax rate increased 20.5 percent compared to same period in previous year.
