Telkom Indonesia expands its market to Malaysia

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA - State owned telecommunication operator, PT Telkom Indonesia expands its market to Malaysia through mobile virtual network service operator (MVNO). Company targets tourist market of both countries and Indonesian who live in Malaysia.

"We are targetting tourists both from Indonesia and Malaysia, as well as Indonesian citizens who had settled in that country," President Director of Telkom Indonesia (Telkom), Arief Yahya said after signing a partnership with Telekomunikasi Indonesia International (Telin), a subsidiary of Telkom in Kuala Lumpur, last weekend.

Malaysia will cooperate with many travel agencies. Tourists from Malaysia and Indonesia will be easier to communicate and its market potential reaches four million people. Yahya said the most important was how to provide the best service for consumers and familiar to all people.

President Director of Telin, Oki Wiranto explained that Malaysian market penetration was part of Telkom's efforts to spread its wings to some countries including Singapore, Hong Kong, Australia, East Timor, Malaysia, Taiwan, Macau, Saudi Arabia, South Korea and United States.
