REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA - Governor of Bank Indonesia (BI) Agus Martowardojo said Indonesia's economy was generally in good condition. However,  conflict in Middle East including the potential of invasion plan to Syria will  impact on overall condition of the world.

BI continues to stabilize IDR as the USD has touched its highest level at 11,690 IDR per USD. Series of mesures have been taken to control IDR, including by reducing oil imports then increasing the use of biodiesel fuel.

"It will impact on Indonesia's trade balance," Martowardojo said recently.

The former Minister of Finance sees opportunities for government to reduce imports. Indonesia's foreign exchange reserves are in safe condition despite the decline due to capital outflow. Necessary support in form of debt is needed to keep foreign exchange reserves.

Martowardojo said BI had prepared short term, intermediate and long term strategies to respond the world economy. Yet, he warned that Indonesia's situation was not similar to other countries which their banking condition caused by derivative transactions.
