REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- A German airline, Lufthansa re-opened its service in Indonesia with route of Jakarta-Europe by using Airbus A340-600. In 2012, Lufthansa Indonesia closed its operation in the country as its plane A380 which replaced A340 could not land in Indonesia.

In March 2013, Lufthansa remain open its services in Indonesia through a transit flight cooperation with four airlines. 

"Indonesia is an economic leader in Southeast Asia with 4th largest population in the world. This is an opportunity for us to give a better service," Country Manager of Lufthansa in Indonesia, Leonardo Tondandel said on Tuesday.

The first flight will start on March 30, 2014. It consisted of eight first class seats, 48 business class seats and 270 economy class seats. Later, Lufthansa will fly five times a week from Jakarta to Frankfurt.

Tonidandel believes that Lufthansa reopening in Indonesia will get a positive response as demands for flights from and to Indonesia continue to increase.
