REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA - South Korean government has established a work opportunity quota in the formal sector for 10,200 Indonesian workers through a government-to-government scheme in 2014.

"In 2013, the South Korean government through the same cooperation scheme had provided a quota for 7,300 Indonesian workers but had placed a total of 9,441 workers," Agusdin Subinatoro, a worker placement deputy of the Agency for Placement of Indonesian Workers Overseas (BNP2TKI), said on Thursday.

He said that of the quota this year, almost 5,000 workers had been placed. Agusdin said that one of the interesting factors for Indonesians working in South Korea was salary, which could reach 11 million IDR per month for workers who had low skills. The income could reach up to 18 million IDR to 20 million IDR if they worked overtime.

Agusdin said that the government was recruiting workers for South Korea. The number of applicants this year had reached 30,000.

"The applications had reached 30,000 although the quota was only for 10,200 workers," he added.
