REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, DENPASAR - Cellular phone operator PT Telkomsel has registered an 8.9 percent increase in its number of subscribers, taking their number to 139.3 million, until the third quarter of 2014.

"The growth was across all business lines, both digital business (mobile broadband and digital services) and sound and electronic short message services (SMS)," Telkomsel President Director Alex J Sinaga said in a press statement released on Friday.

The growth has confirmed the company's solid financial performance for the third year in a row and enabled it to maintain an income growth of 10 percent, he added. Telkomsel has also managed to maintain its good profitability rate in which the EBITDA (earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation, and amortization) margin has been consistent at above 55 percent and net income margin at above 28 percent, he noted.

Telkomsel saw its digital business grow significantly by 32.5 percent year-on-year while mobile broadband business grew 32.9 percent and digital services jumped 28.4 percent year-on-year.

Data traffic also rose sharply by 146.1 percent from a year earlier, while sound services grew 7.2 percent and short message services rose 2.8 percent year-on-year.
