REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- Indonesia plans to build new ports to bring President Joko 'Jokowi' Widodo's maritime axis vision come to life. The plan was stated during government's meeting with US on investment.
"We will develop 24 ports," Coordinating Minister of Maritime Indroyono Soesilo said during the meeting with US on Wednesday, November 12.
Tanjung Priok Port is one example. Minister Soesilo said the Tanjung Priok Port had received 3.6 million USD of funds in 2009. By 2017, the funds would increase to 15 million USD, he targeted.
The meeting also talked on cooperation between Indonesia and US, focusing on three matters. The first is to enhance communication between government and businesses to discuss problems related to policies taken by government. Second point is to respect legal status of a contract and legal certainly. The last is to ensure ease on business.
