Indonesia wins two of seven gold medals targeted in Asian Beach Games

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, PHUKET -- Indonesia has won two gold, a silver and six bronze medals in Asian Beach Games (ABG) 2014. Five more golds to go to reach the target since Indonesia seeks to win seven gold medals from the event.

The first gold was snatched on Friday, November 14, by Dwi Tiga Putri from Wood ball. The second one is achieved by Aspar Jaelolo from sport climbing. Sport climbing also contributes to silver medals.

Meanwhile, six bronze medals are from Heka Masa Sembiring from beach wrestling on women's freestyle -50kg, Lia Nurlianty/Eko Hendrawan from Ju-Jitsu on show system mix duo, Ahris Sumariyanto from woodball on men fairway, and Marga Nugraha Susilo from woodball on men fairway.

At least 104 Indonesian athletes are competing in Asian Beach Games (ABG) 2014, take place in Phuket, Thailand, from November 14-23. 

Minister of Youth and Sports Nahrawi said, during the previous ABG, Indonesia secured six golds, six silvers and four bronzes. "We expect to win more," he said earlier.

Out of 26 events, Indonesia participates in 17, including athletics, jet ski, swimming, sports climbing, triathlon, sailing, water ski, bodybuilding, paragliding, pentaque, beach woodball, sepak takraw, beach volley, water polo, squash, beachwrestling, and jujitsu.
