REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- Eletric train operator, PT KRL Commuter Jabodetabek (KCJ), aims to have the best system in Asia Pacific. It will operate new electronic ticketing system by cooperating with a Japanese chip producer, Sony Felica.

President Director of KCJ, Tri Handoyo, said commuters could use their cellular phone to pay the ticket. "The commuters only have to tap their phone to the electronic gate," Handoyo said on Tuesday, February 3.

Sony will produce Type C chip integrated with cellular phone and also a special wristlet. For the first stage, Sony and KCJ will produce 1,000 chips in which 200 of them are for wristlet. The technology will be available on the second semester of 2015.

Despite new technology, the commuters can still use the current Multi Trip Card. "Nothing changes. We only want to emphasize that our system is the best in Asia Pacific. We can read Type A, B and C," he said.

The similar technology will also be applied in MRT. The commuters can use similar card, wristlet and chip in the MRT.
