REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Sofyan Djalil expected all state officials to imitate the firmness of the Minister of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries Susi Pudjiastuti related to the offer issue of 5 trillion IDR to step down from the post of minister.
"I'm happy Susi was not tempted, despite the attractive offer. It is expected that all state officials become like Susi,” said Sofyan in Jakarta, on Friday, May 15.
Sofyan said Minister Susi had done extraordinary things to combat "illegal fishing" and had the integrity that makes international world give respectful to Indonesia.
"Mrs. Susi made a tremendous difference and has integrity in action. The international community sees Indonesia, and there are many who follow Mrs. Susi’ way (to combat illegal fishing). Indonesia is very fortunate to have Susi as minister of maritime affairs and fisheries," he said.
Sofyan also appreciated Susi’s decision to mention the offering news in social media, given the tempting offer as it could have been derived from third parties, not of any particular individual.
Earlier, Minister Susi in her Twitter account on Wednesday, May 13, stated that he received an offer of 5 trillion IDR so that she would walk away from her position. However, Susi stated that her conscience and freedom impossible to be mortgaged or sold.
Diverse policies issued by Minister Susi such as banning the use of not environmentally friendly fishing gear like cantrang, it did get a response pros and cons in the community.
Susi suggested that the various policies which is issued by her were to support the three pillars: prosperity, sustainability, and sovereignty of the Republic of Indonesia.
