REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- National shipping company's (PT Pelni's) Camara Nusantara 1 Ship delivered a live shipment of 471 cows from East Nusa Tenggara (NTT), Sunday (July 24), at around 7 a.m. local time, to Jakarta's Tanjung Priok Port.
"All cows transported as part of the consignment are meant for supplying beef to Jakarta," Manager of Communications and Institutional Relations PT Pelni Akhmad Sujadi stated here on Sunday.
According to Sujadi, the live shipment of cows was not unloaded at other ports, such as Surabaya and Cirebon, but entirely brought to Tanjung Priok.
The ship departed from NTT two weeks ago and set sail directly from Kupang, Waingapu, to Tanjung Priok.
After delivering the consignment of live cows at Tanjung Priok, the ship will soon return to NTT.
Operated by PT Pelni, the Camara Nusantara 1 Ship has already set sail 15 times with a consignment of 6,521 live cows to Jakarta, Cirebon, and Surabaya.
"As much as 98 percent of the meat will be supplied to Jakarta and the rest to Surabaya and Cirebon," he added.
