REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- A political expert from Indonesia University, Maswadi Rauf, said Basuki Tjahaja Purnama 'Ahok' has offended Muslims. Even though, he needed Muslim voters, he ignored Muslims. "He is acting like he do not need any support from voters," Maswadi remarked. 

According to Maswadi, since the beginning Ahok seemed like he did not live in Indonesia. He joined an election and he needed support from the voters. "He acts like he is living in Singapore or Hong Kong,” said Maswadi to Republika.co.id on Saturday.

The rude attitude towards KH Ma’ruf Amin, said Maswadi, showed there was no willing to grab Muslims voters in the gubernatorial election. He saw Ahok absolutely did not want to get sympathy from Muslims. "And this would continue to happen."

In fact, Maswadi added, Ahok needed Muslim voice since most of the voters are Muslim. He said that half of Muslims voters are obidient with the Islamic teachings. "He has offended and ignored Muslims. However, Muslims had an unbelievable political power," he explained.
