REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA – Commissioner on the National Commission of Human Right Maneger Nasution said the incident where Rubby Peggy prayed using a short pant was a psychological abuse based on the human right view. Rubby was a suspect of physical abuse to Basuki Tjahaja Purnama-Djarot Saiful Hidayat (Ahok-Djarot)’s sympathizer namely Iwan Batak.
“Secondly, it obviously violates the human rights on religion, because (someone) prays using a short pant and so on. It is an abuse to human rights. I think it is the most principle,” said Maneger to Republika.co.id on Sunday (March 19).
He encouraged the police to be professional, independent, and do not take a side. The police should be neutral and did not position themselves as partisan.
“Police should not be a partisan. They should be professional, independent, and open-minded. Everyone should be equal before the law, no discrimination,” he said. Maneger hoped the people did not demean or discriminate anyone.
Previously, Patriotic Advocates (ACTA) said its concern to a citizen who was the suspect of physical abuse to Ahok-Djarot supporter, Rubby Peggy. When they visited him in West Jakarta police custody on Wednesday (March 15), ACTA saw Rubby prayed wearing a short pant. His head was also became bald.
