JAKARTA – Bank Syariah Mandiri (BSM) seeks gas and oil sectors for middle scale financing. The development of oil and gas sectors hopefully contributes the increasing of BSM middle scale financing up to 30 percent this year.
The distribution of BSM middle scale financing recently is dominated by agriculture and trading sectors. Both sectors dominate until 47 percent from the total middle scale financing in 2011. “Oil and gas sectors were very small. This year we want to penetrate deeper to these sectors,” the Director of BSM, Sugiharto, said recently.
In 2011, the BSM middle scale financing portion hits 40 percent from its total financing. BSM distributes the financing in the amount of 43 trillion IDR in 2011. Most of it or at least 71 percent from its total financing distributes to small and medium enterprises.
BSM middle scale financing increases 20 percent in 2011 compared to the previous period. The distribution is mainly to buy utilities and capital. According to Sugiharto, the financing of agriculture remains well with the ratio of non-performing finance (NPF) about 1.2 percent.
To boost the value of middle scale financing, BSM will distribute the capital to the sector appropriate with local potency. In Sumatra, BSM middle scale financing is dominated to plantation sector. In Kalimantan, water transportation sector is dominating the financing. Meanwhile, agriculture and trading sectors spread in several regions, including Java Island.
BSM middle scale financing also will expand to various sectors. The financing on several sectors, such as oil and gas, education, and health, will be boost this year. The distribution is mainly done directly. Even for only monitoring, cooperation with farmers is still conducted. “We have not tried joint financing. We mainly do direct financing,” Sugiharto said.
