REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA – The increasing of fuel price will be applied on April 1, but Indonesian government has already published a book explaining fuel price increasing. The book entitled ‘Subsidi BBM buat (si) apa?’ (What/whom is the fuel subsidy for? –Ed) is received by Republika on Wednesday. 

The co-authors are two institutions, the Ministry of State Secretary and Vice President Secretary. “The book answers why government increases the fuel price,” the Vice President spokesman, Yopie Hidayat said.

This 26-page book comes out 10 days after Vice President Boediono led a meeting with joint secretariat of political parties supporting the SBY-Boediono government.

The former chairman of House of Representatives, Akbar Tanjung, supports the decision to increase the fuel price. “I think it is a good choice,” he said in Semarang on Wednesday, then added that the increase was inevitable.

The measure should be taken to decrease the subsidy. “Should it not be conducted, the state budget will mount then that will reduce the budget allocated for public development,” he said.
