REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA – On the meeting with Indonesian President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono (SBY), President of North Korea’s Presidium of the Supreme People’s Assembly Kim Yong Nam said that North Korea was interested in the pattern of foreign investment in Indonesia.
Kim Yong Nam arrived in Merdeka Palace, Jakarta, on Tuesday at 10.00 when he was welcomed by SBY. The meeting was to share North Korea’s experience in cooperation to Indonesia, Indonesian Minister for Foreign Affairs, Marty Natalegawa said.
“We noted that North Korea has a high interest on presenting the problems of economic development, investment, and others as the important matters for both countries. They are interested on how Indonesia manages foreign investment,” Natalegawa said on Tuesday.
The one hour meeting was mainly discussed on economic sector, including trade. Specifically, Kim Yong Nam referred to the cooperation of traditional medicine. “Both presidents emphasized on developing the cooperation in traditional medicine,” he said.
“The visit is a new history to boost the cooperation and partnership of both countries,” President SBY said on his opening speech. He added, Indonesian and North Korea had a long history. He hopes the relationship can be enhanced in the future, not only at government to government level, but also people to people.
SBY expected the meeting could acquire more insight from North Korea, th would help Indonesia to participate in peace building process in Asia Pacific region.
