REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA – Stefani Joanne Angelina Germanotta, or known as Lady Gaga, could perform in Indonesia if she adapted Indonesian culture, the Member of Commission X in House of Representatives, Zulfadhli, said on Tuesday. “We have a code of ethics in the way we dress, dance, and other things,” he said. Therefore, he expected Lady Gaga could also respect Indonesian values.

Basically, Indonesia allows almost any concerts as long as it follows the local rules and norms. Jakarta Police Department should urge the committee that the concert not to incite people’s emotion. “We do not expect the concert become brutally chaos. That is not art,” he added.

The Member of Commission III in House of Representatives, Ahmad Basarah, said the police’s step was an effort to protect Indonesian culture.

“I agree that we must be more selective towards foreign culture and ideology entering Indonesia. Precaution is necessary,” Basarah said.
