REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, DILI - Visiting Indonesian President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono (SBY) and First Lady Ani Yudhoyono attended the 10th celebration of Timor Leste`s Independence Day here on Sunday. The Sunday event was led by Timor Leste`s newly elected president Taur Matan Ruak.
On Sunday, SBY also conducted meeting with Timor Leste`s Prime Minister Xanana Gusmao and attended the inauguration of the country`s newly elected president Taur Matan Ruak (Tetum for "Two Sharp Eyes"). SBY and the new elected presidents then met about 15 minutes after the country marked the 10th anniversary of its independence.
SBY arrived in Dili on Saturday and conducted bilateral meeting with former president of Timor Leste Jose Ramos Horta. After the meeting, both leaders witnessed the signing of several Memorandum of Understandings (MoU) which marked the cooperation between Indonesia and Timor Leste in various sectors. SBY returned to Jakarta at around 10.30 local time and arrived at Halim Perdanakusuma airport in Jakarta by noon.
