REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, SUKABUMI - The production of marine fish in Sukabumi, West Java, increases around 30 percent compared to last month due to good weather. Yet, the price is still considered high.
The production of fish per day reached 30 tonnes, while last month only 10 tonnes per day, the Chairman of Indonesian Fisherman Community in Sukabumi, Tendi Sudama, said. "But it is not maximal yet. During the normal condition, the production can reach 50-55 tonnes per day. But, we are grateful that the condition is getting better," he said.
Yet, the price is still high due to the high demand. Thus, he urges the fisherman to mount their supply from outside Sukabumi to anticipate the shortage.
"The supply for local market is sufficient. But, the high demand from the tourists makes the price high. It increases 50-100 percent from the normal price," he said.
