REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA – Indonesian government emphasizes that companies related to the Sukhoi Super Jet 100’s joy flight will cover the insurance for the victims. Minister of Transportation, EE Mangindaan said, Russia was willing to give the insurance in the amount cited in Ministerial Regulation 77/2009. 

“The cause of the crash is still unknown, but the accident becomes the responsibility of the airlines. Thus the insurance will be based on Indonesian regulation,” Mangindaan said on Wednesday.

Starting from next week, Sukhoi Company will visit each family and gather some data of the victims’ heirs. Mangindaan added, while the compensation paid by Jasa Raharja would be  a humanitarian basis as the flight was not commercial one. “There is no provision on the amount of compensation from Jasa Raharja as it was the free flight. Then the compensation will be given on humanitarian basis,” he said then added, the ministry would also review the provision of joy flight. “If we find some holes in the regulation, we will review and complete it,” he said.
