REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA - The House of Representatives (DPR) has approved the bill on Higher Education into Law following two years of deliberations. "This law is Indonesia`s first legal umbrella of higher education which cannot be delayed", Minister of Education and Culture M Nuh told the press at his office on Friday.

He said this law has been issued at the right time in view of the start for the 2012/2013 academic year.

Nuh also admitted that this law cannot satisfy all related parties due to their various and different views. "When it was still a bill, the pros and contras need to be accommodated to the best possible way by providing the best solution," he said. With regard to the possibility of foreign higher education institutes in Indonesia, Nuh said it is quite possible provided the necessary conditions had been met.
