REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA - The Sunda Strait Bridge project is proposed to be separated from the Sunda Strait Strategic Region and Infrastructure. The proposal was an alternative to be discussed on the coordination meeting on Wednesday, the Minister of Public Works Djoko Kirmanto said.
The Head of National Development Planning Agency (Bappenas), Armida S Alisjahbana, issued some options over the megaproject of Sunda Strait Bridge. One of the proposals is whether the project of the bridge will be integrated to the development of Sunda Strait Strategic Region and Infrastructure or not.
However, the Coordinationg Minister of Economy Hatta Rajasa said the separation could not be possible as it would be more costly. The region must be integrated, and the bridge should be included.
The plan to revise the Presidential Regulation No. 86/2011 on Sunda Strait Strategic Region and Infrastructure will be discussed on the meeting of Supervisor Board. The meeting would decide whether the revision was needed, the Presidential Staff on Economy, Firmanzah, said. Yet, he could not confirm whether the government was willing to pay the feasibility study should the Presidential Regulation was revised.
