REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, BOGOR - Deputy Minister for Law and Human Rights Affairs Denny Indrayana said he was ready if he was reported to police about his recent statement on corrupt lawyers in the Twitter social network. He argued that he did not mean to address his comment to all lawyers in general.

"I am ready to be reported to police," Denny said when giving a public lecture to the School of Ecology of the Bogor-based Institute of Agriculture on Sunday.

He said he would give clear explanations about his statement if there were parties who felt offended or who did not like the statement. Regarding the possibility of many lawyers who would sue him, the deputy minister said he had no problems with it because he did not generalize all lawyers.

"What I meant a corrupt lawyer is a lawyer who blindly defends corruptors and shamelessly receives stolen money from corruption crimes," he said. "So, what I wrote on Twitter has a definition and did not generalize all lawyers."

However, he admitted, he would be careful later on when he would post a statement in an online social networks media. He said that Indonesia right now was continuing to move forwards in its efforts to fight against corruption.

"In an effort to eliminate corruption, Indonesia is now ranked eight in the world. I think it is a good achievement," he added. Denny said that if now many corruptors were arrested it meant that the legal process was proceeding in Indonesia.
