REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA - The visiting US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton held a courtesy call with President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyo (SBY) at Presidential Office on Tuesday morning. Minister of Foreign Affairs Marty Natalegawa who met Mrs Clinton on Monday, said the 45-minutes meeting was discussed on South China Sea, Syria, Iran, and Korean Peninsula issues.
Marty said that US, again, emphasized its role in South China Sea dispute. "US urges the implementation of code of conduct," Marty said on Tuesday.
Clinton also exchanged her view on Syria and Iran. She said that Indonesia had shown consistent stance on the issue, which was emphasizing to put an end to the violence. US concerns that conflict in Syria can lead to instability in Middle East.
On Iran, she said that Iran has a right to the use of peaceful nuclear energy. But Iran must abide by its international obligations and cannot be permitted to get nuclear weapons. "SBY and Clinton also exchange their views on situation in North Korea," Marty said.
Clinton also praised Indonesian role in Rohingya conflict. She said that Indonesia showed its solicitude towards problems in Myanmar.
