REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA - The newly elected Jakarta's Governor, Joko Widodo, and his deputy, Basuki Tjahaja Purnama, begin to share responsibilities. Joko, or known as Jokowi, will keep his promise by strolling around the city. Meanwhile, Basuki, or famous as Ahok, will study the budget.
Jokowi will invite the heads and staff of the department to observe the real situation of the city. He expects to find the priority area for revamping. Thus, the budget of Jakarta can be allocated for urgent need.
Yesterday, Ahok conducted meeting with Local Development Agency (Bappeda) to investigate the inefficient cost. Ahok targets the health insurance and education programs to be implemented by the end of this year.
Main program to be implemented in the first three months, he said, was the building of affordable apartment which costs only 150,000 IDR per month. The apartment will be equipped with market, hospital, and function hall.
Ahok, planning to form proper wage system, also promises to have a dialogue with bus drivers. To tackle the biggest problem in Jakarta, flood, Ahok emphasized that he would coordinate with Department of Public Work.
The Analyst of Indonesian Transportation People (MTI), Aditya Dwi Laksana, praised Jokowi's plan to build railbus, monorail, and subway. Yet, such plan might hard to be implemented within only five years. The more realistic thing, he said, was to develop and repair the service of Transjakarta.
