REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, LONDON - Russia fully supports Indonesian leadership on Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) 2013, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation, Sergei Lavrov, said to Indonesian Ambassador to Russian Federation, Djauhari Oratmangun.

"We highly appreciates Indonesia that had supported Russia as the leader of APEC 2012," Lavrov said as cited by Second Secretary at Indonesian Embassy in Moscow, Enjay Diana, on Tuesday.

Lavrov said Indonesia was an important partner for Russia, along with the improving bilateral relationship and their role on regional cooperation, such as in East Asia Summit (EAS), ASEAN Regional Forum (ARF) and G-20 Forum. Russia expects Indonesian support for Russia to be the leader of G-20.

In bilateral relationship, Lavrov noted the significant improvement on several sectors, particularly economics, trade, and investment. Several projects, such as nickel mining and railway in Indonesia, have been prepared and ready to be implemented.

Ambassador Oratmangun said this meeting showed positive indication on the improvement of bilateral relationship. The meeting also places Indonesia as the important position for Russia.

The meeting is also attended by Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation, Igor Morgulov, and the new Russian Ambassador to Indonesia, Mikhail Galuzin.
