Govt to prioritize domestic oil and gas companies

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA - After the oil and gas regulator BP Migas dismissal, government promises to prioritize national oil and gas companies. Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Jero Wacik assured that Temporary Executive Upstream Oil and Gas Task Force (SKSP Migas) would be pro people and more efficient.

SKSP Migas will invite as many as domestic oil and gas companies to explore mineral resources. The Minister said that as he had met some representatives of domestic companies, such as Medco Energy and Pertamina. He has also gathered the deputies of SKSP Migas, instructed them to prioritize national companies.

Wacik said foreign companies could still invest in Indonesia, yet the profit gain would be no more that Indonesian companies’.  

Separately, Minister of State-Owned Company, Dahlan Iskan, the BP Migas dismissal would not disrupt the existing contracts. The dismissal, he explained, would not change the upcoming and ongoing contracts between BP Migas and state-owned companies.
