REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, BALI - Speaker of Indonesian House of Representatives, Marzuki Alie, plans to visit Gaza, Palestine, in early December. It is still unclear whether the plan still proceeds as the Palestine and Israel now has agreed the truce deal at 21.00 on Wednesday (early Thursday in Indonesia).

"We are planning to meet parliament and people of Palestine and support them," Alie who is also the President of Parliamentary Union of the Islamic Cooperation (PUIC) said on Wednesday after meeting the PUIC Secretary General Mahmud Erol.

Alie said representatives of 10 executive members of PUIC would hold emergency meeting in Egypt on December discussing PUIC stance towards the conflict in Palestine.

"Indonesia has always consistently supported the freedom of Palestine," Alie said condemning Israeli strikes.

He said the support for Palestine was not related to religious matter, which had become a reason to attack each other. Instead, it is related to the rights of people to live in the world. His visit to Palestine is also to pay Palestinian Legislative Council visit to Indonesia.
