Minister's son officially becomes the suspect of car accident

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA - Jakarta Police Department officially announced the son of Coordinating Minister of Economy Hatta Rajasa, M Rasyid Amirulloh Rajasa, as the suspect of deadly car accident.

"Yes. He is the suspect now," Spokesman of Jakarta Police Department, Rikwanto, confirmed on Wednesday.

He explained that the accident occurred in km 3,350 of Jagorawi toll road. Rasyid was driving his BMW 100 kilometers per hour when he hit a Luxio from behind. The accident caused the back door of Luxio to open suddenly.

"Two passengers in the back seat fell to the right and hit iron fence. They passed away instantly," Rikwanto explained. While three others passengers in the same car, Rival (8 years), Nung (32 years), and Norman (41 years) were injured.

The night before the accident occurred, Rasyid was attending new year party in Kemang, South Jakarta. He was allegedly sleepy when he drove his car.

Rasyid could be sentenced five years in prison and he is still under treatment in a hospital. "He is suffering trauma and injured as well. We still investigate the case further," Rikwanto said.
