REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA - Indonesia expects to make concrete contribution to the establishment of a future economic architecture through Indonesia's Chairmanship of APEC in 2013. Indonesian Minister of Foreign Affairs, Marty Natalegawa, called the chairmanship as an opportunity to exemplify Indonesian leadership in the region.

"By building upon many previous accomplishments of APEC, President of Indonesia has set the theme for APEC 2013, namely Resilient Asia Pacific, Engine of Global Growth," Marty Natalegawa said on Friday during 2013 press statement. With this theme, Indonesia will continue to promote stronger and resilient Asia Pacific as the locomotive for world's economic growth.

Natalegawa mentioned that Indonesia had three main priorities for APEC 2013. The first is to attain the Bogor Goals. It focuses to achieve the Bogor goals, which is expansion of trade and investment and structural reform.

Second priority is achieving sustainable growth with equity, with the focus on the SMEs' global competitiveness, financial inclusion, food security, and health.

Meanwhile, the last priority is to promote connectivity with the focus on physical connectivity including infrastructure and investment development, maritime connectivity (blue economy), institutional connectivity and people to people connectivity.

"Indonesia believes that under the Indonesian Chairmanship of APEC in 2013, APEC will be able to contribute and give added values to the Asia Pacific economic resilience, which in turn can contribute to the global economic growth and prosperity of the world's community," he said.
