Floods in Jakarta could be worse

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA - National Agency for Disaster Management (BNPB) warns Jakarta citizens to prepare of facing floods. As the rainfall is quit high across Jakarta and Bogor, water at Ciliwung River, particularly at Katulampa Dam, has reached at dangerous levels on Tuesday. 

Flood is predicted to inundate several areas crossed by Ciliwung River at 18:00 to 19:00. Flood may affect several areas, such as Rawajati, Kalibata, Pengadegan, Cawang, Kebon Batu, Bukit Duri, Bidara Cina and Kampung Melayu.

As a part of anticipation, some of the inhabitants in Kalibata and Pasar Minggu have been evacuated. People who live near river have also made shelters in mosque.

On Tuesday morning, the alert status in Katulampa floodgate was level 1 as the water reached levels of 210 centimeters. The normal level of the water at the dam is below 50 centimeters.
