REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA - President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono on Tuesday officially inaugurated Roy Suryo as Minister of Youth and Sports in State Palace on Tuesday. Earlier, his appointment drew criticism due to his background which was not related to sports.

Several ministers and the first lady Ani Yudhoyono attended the ceremony, along with the Chief Justice of the Indonesian Constitutional Court Mahfud MD, Deputy Chairman of People's Consultative Assembly Melani Leimena Suharli and Chief of Supreme Audit Agency Hadi Poernomo.

Previously, Roy Suryo was a member of Commission I from Democratic Party Faction at the House of Representatives. He replaces Andi Mallarangeng who stepped down from his office last December when he was named as a suspect of Hambalang graft case.

At the sam time, the Presiden also inaugurated Susilo Utomo as Vice Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources and Rudi Rubiandini as the Head of Temporary Working Unit of Upstream Oil and Gas Activities (SK Migas).
