US embassy alerts its citizens due to flood

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA - US embassy in Jakarta asks its citizens to stock food and water supplies during the current situation. The warning is posted on social media including Facebook.

"As many areas in Jakarta are already flooded, please exercise caution. Walking and driving in flooded areas can be dangerous and should be avoided if possible," it said.

"Take stock of your food and water supplies and ensure that you and your family have enough food and drinking water to last several days," it continued.

The embassy also warned that during flooding, there was a high risk of contracting water-borne diseases. Earlier, Indonesian Weather Bureau forecasts that  heavy rains are expected in the Jakarta region for the next three days. The Governor of Jakarta has issued the highest level of flood alert for the city.
