REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA - The popularity of Chairman of National Mandate Party (PAN), Hatta Rajasa, is not affected even though one of its members, Wanda Hamidah, is arrested on Sunday. Hamidah was on the drug scene during National Narcotics Agency (BNN) raid at the house of a TV host, Raffi Ahmad.
"Hatta Rajasa is still a feasible presidential candidate," Chairman of PAN Youth Organization National Youth Guard (GMN), Kuntum Khairu Basa, said on Tuesday.
The arrest comes at a difficult time for PAN following the incident of reckless driving case involving the chairman's son, Rasyid Rajasa. However, Basa believes that the tests will make PAN grow stronger.
Based on GMN's survey in all regions in Indonesia, the popularity of the current Coordinating Minister of Economy remains stable. Stability is important as it can boost the popularity and electability of PAN in the upcoming election.
"This is related to our target of two digit votes in 2014 Legislative Election. I believe that we can," he said.
By achieving the target, Rajasa will have lighter step to run as presidential candidate. He said that the target was not just a dream because currently many people were proud to be a member of PAN.
