REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, MONROVIA - Liberia supports Indonesian Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy Mari Elka Pangestu during bilateral meeting with Indonesia on Thursday to become Director General of World Trade Organization (WTO). Pangestu is competing with eight other candidates to replace Pascal Lamy to chair WTO.
President of Indonesia, Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono, met President of Liberia, Ellen Johnson Sirleaf, on Thursday. Other than Liberia, the president will includes Nigeria, Saudi Arabia and Egypt from January 30 to February 2. Indonesia and Liberia have formed joint committee to reach the target.
"We agree to develop trade relations and investment," President SBY said, as reported by Nasihin Masha from Republika.
SBY, while supporting permanent peace in Liberia, praised Sirleaf for his success to recovery economic condition in Liberia. Liberia suffered seven year civil war and now about 15,000 UN troops are placed in Liberia.
President SBY arrived in Liberia on Thursday. He is scheduled to co-chair High Level Panel (HLP) of the Eminent Person on the Post-2015 Developing Agenda with British Prime Minister David Cameron and Liberian President Ellen Johnson-Sirleaf on Friday.
