REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JEDDAH - Indonesian Government offered Saudi businessmen to invest in Indonesian vital sectors including energy, minerals, automobile, IT, and agriculture, Nasihin Masha from Republika reported.
Speaking to Saudi businessmen in the sidelines of the Saudi-Indonesia Business Forum on Monday, President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono (SBY) highlighted Indonesian growing economy and its investment opportunities.
During the meeting, SBY also emphasized the importance of building investment network to ensure energy and food security. Meeting Saudi investors is one of SBY's agenda in his trip to Liberia, Nigeria, Egypt, and Saudi Arabia from January 30 to February 2. Vice President of Jeddah Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Mazen Batterjee, said the meeting with SBY was positive. Arabnews cited, Batterjee said a Saudi business delegation would soon visit Indonesia to explore investment opportunities in Indonesia.
“Both sides are soo keen to expand trade and investment relations,” Batterjee said, adding that at present, bilateral trades have not reflected the potentials and ambitions of the two countries.
In 2011, Saudi-Indonesian trade stood at 6.84 billion USD with Saudi exports to Indonesia reaching 5.42 USD billion. During his meeting with Yudhoyono, Batterjee highlighted the historical relations between two countries, back to more than eight decades.
