REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA - Prosecutors demanded six years in prison and 12 million IDR fine for the son of Coordinating Minister of Economy Hatta Rajasa, Rasyid Amrullah Rajasa. Rasyid was involved in a deadly traffic accident in early January.
"We have various charges," the prosecutor of East Jakarta Court, Emilwan Ridwan, said on Thursday.
Ridwan accused Rasyid of violating Article 310 section 4 Laws No. 22/2009 which can carry a maximum sentence of six years in prison and 12 million IDR fine. According to the prosecutors, Rasyid drove his car, a BMW X5 luxury sport utility vehicle on January 1 at Jakarta toll road.
Prosecutors also accused Rasyid of violating Article 310 Section 2 and 3 Laws No. 22/2009 which can carry a maximum sentence of ten years in prison and 10 million IDR fine because he was a suspect for reckless driving result in injury and death of two passengers.
In January 1, a car driven by Rasyid crashed into a Luxio van at high speed on a high way, killing two passengers in the van identified as Harun (57 years) and M Raihan (14 months) and injuring three others.
