Governor launches new Transjakarta corridor

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA - Governor of Jakarta, Joko Widodo, or known as Jokowi, launched Transjakarta XII corridor connecting Tanjung Priok to Pluit in North Jakarta on Thursday. 

The Head of Jakarta Transportation Department, Udar Pristono, said the new corridor of Transjakarta was a part of macro transportation patterns ruled in Gubernatorial Regulation No 103/2007. According to the patterns, Jakarta will have 15 Transjakarta corridors.

The Corridor XII has connecting stops with Corridor IX (Pinangranti-Pluit) in Penjaringan stop, Corridor V (Kampung Melayu-Ancol) in Gunung Sahari Mangga Dua stop, Corridor I (Blok M-Kota) in Kota stop and Corridor X (Tanjung Priok-Cililitan) in Kelapa Gading stop. It also has 13 bus stops along the route.

Having 36 buses with capacity up to 180 passengers each, the new corridor is expected to cut the use of private cars. It will be operated for 17 housed from 05.00 to 22.00 Western Indonesia Time (WIB).
