"It is his choice. I respect and support it. I am glad because his energy will be 100 percent for the party," he said on Friday. Ibas had deeply thought his decision, he added.
He emphasized once again that Ibas resignation gives more energy to the party to finish the consolidation process. He explained that Ibas fairly divided his task in the party and the parliament.
Ibas, who is the son of Indonesian President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono, resigned as a legislator in the House of Representatives on Thursday, only two days after he was caught on camera skipping parliament plenary meeting after he signed the attendance list. Ibas explained that he wanted to focus on the party.
