REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA - Rasyid Rajasa' lawyer, cliamed that the victims' families of traffic accident involved young Rajasa offered compromise. Rasyid, the son of Coordinating Minister for Economy, M Hatta Rajasa, hit a car which caused two people dead on January 1.
The victims' families are willing to compromise with Rasyid familiy," Riri Purbasari Dewi, the lawyer, said on Thursday.
The victims' families, Dewi said, admitted that the acccident was a destiny and inevitable. The families also asked the case against Rasyid was closed. Earlier, Rasyid's family provided some money as compensation for the tragic loss. Such gesture was legally accepted as mentioned in No. 22/2009 Article 235 Section 1 and 2.
Prosecutors accused Rasyid of violating Article 310 section 4 Laws No. 22/2009 which can carry a maximum sentence of six years in prison and 12 million IDR fine. Prosecutors also accused Rasyid of violating Article 310 Section 2 and 3 Laws No. 22/2009 which can carry a maximum sentence of ten years in prison and 10 million IDR fine because he was a suspect for reckless driving result in injury and death of two passengers.
