REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA - About 4,975 houses in Sangatta, East Kalimantan, have been inundated with floods since Friday, February 22, the Head of East Kalimantan Local Board of Disaster Management (BPBD), H Zainuddin Aspan, stated.
Aspan explained that the houses, occupied by 24,000 people, were located in East and South Sangatta. BPBD and social department have built five emergency posts and general kitchen to help the victims.
"But most of the victims refuse to come. They prefer to stay in their inundated houses or with their family," he said.
"Unfortunately, we cannot send aids Tto the victims' houses -Ed) due to limited facilties," he said. He explained that East Kutai BPBD did not have enough infrastructure to evacuate the victims.
