Survey: Prabowo Subianto is the front runner among presidential candidates

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA - National Leadership Center (NLC) along with international research institution, Taylor Nelson Sofres (TNS), release the result of survey towards the potential presidential candidates for 2014. The survey was carried out randomly from January 14-19 and involved 2,020 respondents in 31 provinces in Indonesia.

The result shows that 35 percent of the respondents prefers the Chairman of the Great Indonesia Movement Party (Gerindra) as the most potential candidate. The Chairman of Indonesian Democratic Party for Struggle (PDIP) Megawati Soekarnoputri trails with 20 percent, surpassing the former Indonesian Vice President Jusuf Kalla with 12 percent. 

Several other names get less than 10 percent, such as the Chairman of Golkar Aburizal Bakrie with seven percent, retired Indonesian army General Wiranto with four percent, Governor of Yogyakarta Sri Sultan Hamengkubuwono X with four percent, Minister of State-owned Enterprises Dahlan Iskan with four percent and Coordinating Minister of Economy Hatta Rajasa with two percent.

Other alternative figures get the smallest votes. Chief Justice of the Constitutional Court Mahfud MD gets two percent. The smallest votes are Indonesian First Lady Ani Yudhoyono and Managing Director of World Bank Sri Mulyani who get only one percent each.
