REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, YANGON - Empty post of minister of finance might lead to cabinet reshuffle, Coordinating Minister of Economy, Hatta Rajasa, hinted on Tuesday. The move follows as Minister of Finance Agus Martowardojo was elected for governor of Bank Indonesia (BI).

"Cabinet reshuffle is possible," he said on Tuesday in Yangon, Myanmar, as reported by Nur Aini from Republika. Rajasa refused to mention the candidates who will compete to replace Martowardojo.

However, Rajasa signalled that the current Governor of BI, Darmin Nasution, would not be appointed as the minister of finance. "I don't think so," he said.

Rajasa mentioned that the candidates must comply with several requirements, particularly understanding macro economy and balancing state income and outcome. "The person must be able to maintain fiscal as well," he said.

He added that a finance minister must understand real sector to balance fiscal and non fiscal incentive and real sector activity. Several names from Indonesian United Cabinet II emerge as the candidate for minister of finance. They are Minister of Trade Gita Wirjawan, Vice Minister of Finance Mahendra Siregar and Minister for National Development Planning Armida Alisjahbana.
