National exams postponed in eleven provinces

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA - National exams are forced to be postponed in 11 provinces in Indonesia. The final national exams for senior high school are supposed to be held on Monday, April 15, but it must be postponed until Wednesday, April 17, due to technical problems. 

Minister of Education and Culture, Mohammad Nuh, said the printing company PT Ghalia Indonesia had a problem in putting the examination sheets into envelops. "They are now working hard to distribute the sheets," Nuh said on Sunday.

The eleven provinces are South Kalimantan, East Kalimantan, North Sulawesi, West Sulawesi, Central Sulawesi, South Sulawesi, Southeast Sulawesi, Bali, Nusa Tenggara Barat (NTB), Nusa Tenggara Timur (NTT) dan Gorontalo. However, he ensured that the 22 provinces in Eastern and Western Indonesia would take final exams according to plan. He said that he had reported the problem to the president.

"We are apologize for the technical problem," he said.

He admitted that president had instructed the Ministry of Education and Culture to investigate the problems hampering the distribution. President also asked the ministry to explain the problems to the public. "Fortunately, every region and province will get different examination sheets," Nuh said.
