REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA - President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono will visit Nay Pyi Taw in Myanmar on Tuesday and hold a bilateral meeting with the President Thein Sein. It will be his second visit since seven years ago, when religious tension were increasing in Myanmar.
Presidential Adviser on Foreign Affairs Teuku Faizasyah said that the President wanted to enhance bilateral relations in various sectors. "Earlier Myanmar had gone through a lot of troubles including communal conflicts and violence which were not conducive to democratic system. But now the country has changed," Faizasyah said.
The two presidents are scheduled to witness the signing of some agreements, concerning trade, capacity building and investment. From Myanmar Yudhoyono will go to Bandar Seri Begawan in Brunei on April 24 to attend the 22nd summit of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN).
